However, this method of waste<\/a> disposal<\/a> poses significant environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks to the surrounding communities and the environment. This article aims to examine the environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks associated with medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> at MNH, and to identify possible alternatives for safe and sustainable waste<\/a> management practices.<\/p>\n

Muhimbili National Hospital<\/a> is the largest referral hospital<\/a> in Tanzania<\/a>, providing medical<\/a> services to over 1,000 patients daily. The hospital<\/a> generates a significant amount of medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, including infectious waste<\/a>, sharps, and non-infectious waste<\/a>. Medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> has been the primary method of waste<\/a> disposal<\/a> at MNH, with the hospital<\/a> operating several incinerators on its premises.<\/p>\n

Environmental<\/a> Risks<\/strong><\/p>\n
