In the small East African country of Burundi, the Rutovu Hospital<\/a> has been facing a significant challenge in managing its medical<\/a> waste<\/a>. With limited resources and infrastructure, the hospital<\/a> was struggling to dispose of its hazardous waste<\/a> in a safe and environmentally friendly manner. However, with the introduction of an incinerator<\/a> solution, the hospital<\/a> has been able to significantly reduce its waste<\/a> and improve the overall health<\/a> and safety of its patients and staff.<\/p>\n

Rutovu Hospital<\/a>’s Incinerator<\/a> Solution<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2018, the Rutovu Hospital<\/a>, which is located in the rural province of Bururi, introduced an incinerator<\/a> solution to manage its medical<\/a> waste<\/a>. The incinerator<\/a>, which was donated by a non-governmental organization, is a small, portable<\/a> unit that is capable of burning<\/a> up to 20 kilograms of waste<\/a> per hour. The incinerator<\/a> is fueled by diesel<\/a> and is equipped with a scrubber<\/a> system that removes any toxic gases or particles from the exhaust.<\/p>\n

The introduction of the incinerator<\/a> has had a significant impact on the hospital<\/a>’s waste<\/a> management. Prior to the introduction of the incinerator<\/a>, the hospital<\/a> was producing an average of 50 kilograms of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> per day, which was being buried in a shallow grave on the hospital<\/a> grounds. However, with the incinerator<\/a>, the hospital<\/a> is now able to reduce its waste<\/a> to almost zero.
