In Rwanda<\/a>, the Ministry of Health<\/a> has recognized the importance of proper waste<\/a> management and has taken steps to address the issue. One notable example is the Kibuye Referral Hospital<\/a>’s incinerator<\/a>, which has become a model for waste<\/a> management in the country’s healthcare sector.<\/p>\n

Rwanda<\/a>’s healthcare sector generates a significant amount of waste<\/a>, including infectious waste<\/a>, sharps, and hazardous chemicals. The country’s healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and health<\/a> centers, produce an estimated 10-15 tons of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> per day. The improper disposal<\/a> of this waste<\/a> can contaminate soil, water, and air, and spread diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis.<\/p>\n
