Waste<\/a> Management Practices at Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital<\/a> in Rwanda<\/a>: A Review of the Incineration<\/a> Process<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital<\/a>, located in the Ngoma District of Rwanda<\/a>, is a major healthcare facility that provides medical<\/a> services to a significant population in the Eastern Province of Rwanda<\/a>. As with any healthcare facility, the hospital<\/a> generates a substantial amount of waste<\/a>, including infectious and non-infectious waste<\/a>, that requires proper management to prevent environmental<\/a> pollution<\/a> and public health<\/a> risks. This article reviews the current waste<\/a> management practices at Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital<\/a>, with a focus on the incineration<\/a> process, to identify areas of improvement and propose recommendations for effective waste<\/a> management.<\/p>\n

Introduction to Waste<\/a> Management at Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital<\/a> generates approximately 100-150 kilograms of waste<\/a> daily, including medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, sharps, and non-infectious waste<\/a>. The hospital<\/a> has a waste<\/a> management plan in place, which includes segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal<\/a> of waste<\/a>. The incineration<\/a> process is the primary method of waste<\/a> disposal<\/a> used by the hospital<\/a>, with a incinerator<\/a> installed on-site to manage the medical<\/a> waste<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Current Waste<\/a> Management Practices<\/strong><\/p>\n

The current waste<\/a> management practices at Kibungo Level Two Teaching Hospital<\/a> involve the following steps:<\/p>\n
