Kanyangi Sub District Hospital<\/a>, like many other healthcare facilities, generates a significant amount of waste<\/a>, including hazardous, non-hazardous, and infectious waste<\/a>. This article presents an audit of the waste<\/a> management practices at Kanyangi Sub District Hospital<\/a>, highlighting the gaps and opportunities for improvement.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Kanyangi Sub District Hospital<\/a> is a public healthcare facility located in a rural area, providing primary and secondary healthcare services to the local population. The hospital<\/a> has a bed capacity of 100 and provides a range of services, including maternity, pediatric, and surgical care. With a growing patient population and increasing healthcare needs, the hospital<\/a>’s waste<\/a> management practices have become a pressing concern.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The audit was conducted over a period of six weeks, from January to February 2023. A team of auditors, comprising of environmental<\/a> health<\/a> professionals and hospital<\/a> staff, observed and reviewed the hospital<\/a>’s waste<\/a> management practices, including waste<\/a> generation, segregation, storage, transportation, and disposal<\/a>. The team also conducted interviews with hospital<\/a> staff, including nurses, doctors, and administrative personnel, to gather information on their knowledge, attitudes, and practices related to waste<\/a> management.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The audit revealed several gaps and areas for improvement in the hospital<\/a>’s waste<\/a> management practices.
