The improper disposal<\/a> of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> poses serious risks to human health<\/a> and the environment. One of the common methods of medical waste disposal<\/a> in Kenya is incineration<\/a>. This article presents a case study of waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> at KINANI Family Medical<\/a> and Dental Care, a healthcare facility in Kenya.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> is a common practice in many healthcare facilities in Kenya. Incineration<\/a> involves the burning<\/a> of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> at high temperatures, reducing the volume of waste<\/a> and killing pathogens. However, incineration<\/a> also has its drawbacks, including the release of toxic pollutants into the air and the potential for incomplete combustion<\/a>, which can lead to the formation of harmful compounds.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n KINANI Family Medical<\/a> and Dental Care is a private healthcare facility located in Nairobi, Kenya. The facility provides a range of medical<\/a> services, including general practice, dentistry, and specialized care. The facility generates a significant amount of medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, including infectious waste<\/a>, sharps, and pharmaceutical waste<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The facility uses a small-scale incinerator<\/a> to manage its medical<\/a> waste<\/a>.
