Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Air pollution<\/a> is a significant public health<\/a> concern worldwide, and waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> is one of the sources of air pollution<\/a>. In Iraq<\/a>, the Kahtanyia Primary Health<\/a> Care Center has installed waste<\/a> incinerators to manage its waste<\/a>. However, the assessment of air pollution<\/a> from these incinerators is crucial to ensure the health<\/a> and well-being of the surrounding community. This article aims to assess the air pollution<\/a> from the Kahtanyia Primary Health<\/a> Care Center waste<\/a> incinerators in Iraq<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> is a common practice in healthcare facilities, including primary health<\/a> care centers. Incineration<\/a> is used to dispose of hazardous and non-hazardous waste<\/a>, including medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, plastics, and other combustible materials. However, incineration<\/a> can release pollutants into the air, including particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxide (CO), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). These pollutants can have adverse health<\/a> effects, including respiratory problems, cardiovascular disease<\/a>, and cancer.<\/p>\n

Methods<\/strong><\/p>\n

To assess the air pollution<\/a> from the Kahtanyia Primary Health<\/a> Care Center waste<\/a> incinerators, we conducted a study using the following methods:<\/p>\n

  1. Air sampling<\/strong>: We collected air samples from the vicinity of the incinerators using a portable<\/a> air sampler. The samples were collected at different times of the day and week to account for variations in incinerator<\/a> operation and meteorological conditions.<\/li>\n

  2. Pollutant analysis<\/strong>: We analyzed the air samples for PM, CO, VOCs, and PAHs using standard laboratory techniques.<\/li>\n
