The Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) and the Muhimbili Orthopedic Institute (MOI) in Tanzania<\/a> are two of the many healthcare facilities that generate a significant amount of medical<\/a> waste<\/a>. To manage this waste<\/a>, the Tanzanian government, in collaboration with the private sector, established the Ocean Road Advanced Health<\/a> Care (OAUTHC) waste<\/a> incinerator<\/a>. This facility is designed to provide a safe and efficient method for disposing of medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, reducing the risk of environmental<\/a> pollution<\/a> and health<\/a> hazards. In this article, we will evaluate the economic and environmental<\/a> viability of the OAUTHC waste<\/a> incinerator<\/a> in Tanzania<\/a>, using a case study approach.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n

The management of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> is a significant challenge in Tanzania<\/a>, as in many other developing countries. The lack of proper waste<\/a> disposal<\/a> facilities and practices has resulted in the accumulation of hazardous waste<\/a>, posing serious environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks. The OAUTHC waste<\/a> incinerator<\/a> was established to address this challenge, providing a modern and efficient waste<\/a> management system. This study aims to evaluate the economic and environmental<\/a> viability of the OAUTHC waste<\/a> incinerator<\/a>, assessing its effectiveness, efficiency, and sustainability.<\/p>\n

Methodology<\/h2>\n

This case study used a mixed-methods approach, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis methods.
