The Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital<\/a>, a leading medical<\/a> institution in Rwanda<\/a>, has been facing challenges in managing its waste<\/a>, particularly in the incineration<\/a> process. With the increasing amounts of hazardous waste<\/a> generated by the hospital<\/a>, it is essential to optimize the waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> process to minimize environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> impacts. This study aims to investigate the current waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> practices at the hospital<\/a> and explore opportunities for energy<\/a> recovery and emissions<\/a> reduction.<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/h2>\n

Waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> is a common method of waste<\/a> management in many hospitals, including Ndera Neuropsychiatric Teaching Hospital<\/a>. However, the process can lead to significant environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> concerns if not properly managed. The incineration<\/a> of hazardous waste<\/a> can release toxic pollutants, such as dioxins, furans, and heavy metals, into the atmosphere, posing risks to human health<\/a> and the environment. Moreover, the energy<\/a> consumed during the incineration<\/a> process can be substantial, contributing to greenhouse gas<\/a> emissions<\/a> and climate change.<\/p>\n
