Introduction<\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> is a common practice in many hospitals around the world, including Iraq<\/a>. However, this practice has raised concerns about the environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks associated with it. Khaniqin General Hospital<\/a>, located in the Diyala Governorate of Iraq<\/a>, is one of the many hospitals that use incineration<\/a> as a method of medical waste disposal<\/a>. This systematic review aims to investigate the environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks associated with medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> at Khaniqin General Hospital<\/a>, Iraq<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> involves the burning<\/a> of hazardous and non-hazardous waste<\/a> generated by healthcare facilities. The incineration<\/a> process releases toxic pollutants, such as dioxins, furans, and heavy metals, into the air, water, and soil. These pollutants can have severe environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> impacts, including air and water pollution<\/a>, soil contamination, and health<\/a> problems for workers and nearby communities.<\/p>\n

Methodology<\/strong><\/p>\n

This systematic review was conducted using a comprehensive search of multiple databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The search terms used were “medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a>,” “environmental<\/a> risks,” “health<\/a> risks,” “Khaniqin General Hospital<\/a>,” and “Iraq<\/a>.” The inclusion criteria for this review were studies that examined the environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks associated with medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> at Khaniqin General Hospital<\/a>, Iraq<\/a>. The exclusion criteria were studies that did not focus on Khaniqin General Hospital<\/a> or did not investigate the environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks associated with medical<\/a> waste<\/a> incineration<\/a>.<\/p>\n
