Assessing the Effectiveness of Chawama Level One Hospital<\/a>’s Waste<\/a> Incineration<\/a> Facilities in Reducing Healthcare-Associated Infections<\/strong><\/p>\n

Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) are a significant concern in healthcare facilities worldwide, including in Zambia. Chawama Level One Hospital<\/a>, located in Lusaka, Zambia, has implemented waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> facilities as a measure to reduce the risk of HAIs. This article aims to assess the effectiveness of these facilities in reducing HAIs and provide an overview of the current state of waste<\/a> management in the hospital<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Methodology<\/p>\n

This study was conducted at Chawama Level One Hospital<\/a>, which has a bed capacity of 120 patients. The hospital<\/a>’s waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> facilities were installed in 2018, and this study aimed to assess their effectiveness in reducing HAIs.
