In Iraq<\/a>, the healthcare sector has faced significant challenges in managing waste<\/a> effectively, including a lack of infrastructure, inadequate regulations, and insufficient training of personnel. This study aims to compare the waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> practices at Al Rafidain Private Hospital<\/a> with other healthcare facilities in Iraq<\/a>, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and identifying areas for improvement.<\/p>\n

Iraq<\/a> has a total of 398 hospitals, including 130 private hospitals, with a bed capacity of over 43,000 (Ministry of Health<\/a>, 2022). The country’s healthcare system has faced numerous challenges, including a shortage of medical<\/a> staff, inadequate equipment, and poor waste<\/a> management practices. The lack of effective waste<\/a> management has resulted in environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> concerns, including the spread of infectious diseases and contamination of soil and water resources.<\/p>\n

Waste<\/a> incineration<\/a> is a common practice in Iraqi hospitals, with many facilities relying on on-site incineration<\/a> to manage their waste<\/a>. However, the incineration<\/a> process can pose significant environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks if not properly managed, including the release of toxic pollutants and particulate matter into the atmosphere.
