However, one clinic in Rwanda<\/a> is leading the way in reducing medical<\/a> waste<\/a> through the use of an incinerator<\/a>. The Problem of Medical<\/a> Waste<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, also known as healthcare waste<\/a>, refers to any waste<\/a> generated by healthcare facilities, including hospitals, clinics, and laboratories. This type of waste<\/a> can include items such as disposable syringes, bandages, gloves, and other materials that have come into contact with bodily fluids. If not disposed of properly, medical<\/a> waste<\/a> can pose a significant risk to public health<\/a>, as it can harbor pathogens and other infectious agents.<\/p>\n

In Rwanda<\/a>, the lack of proper medical<\/a> waste<\/a> management has been a long-standing issue. Umurinzi Clinic, located in Kigali, Rwanda<\/a>, has taken a proactive approach to addressing the issue of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> management. In 2018, the clinic installed an incinerator<\/a>, which has significantly reduced the amount of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> generated by the facility. The incinerator<\/a> uses a combination of heat and steam to break down medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, reducing it to a small fraction of its original volume.<\/p>\n
