However, the management of waste<\/a> generated by healthcare facilities remains a pressing concern. The improper disposal<\/a> of medical<\/a> waste<\/a> poses a significant risk to public health<\/a>, the environment, and the well-being of healthcare workers. This article will examine the waste<\/a> management practices in Rwanda<\/a>’s healthcare sector, with a specific focus on the NTARAMA Health<\/a> Center’s incinerator<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The Rwandan healthcare sector has undergone significant reforms since the 1994 genocide, with a focus on strengthening the health<\/a> system, improving access to healthcare services, and enhancing the quality of care. However, the rapid growth of the healthcare sector has also led to an increase in the generation of medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, including infectious waste<\/a>, sharps, pharmaceutical waste<\/a>, and other non-infectious waste<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Waste<\/a> Management Challenges in Rwanda<\/a>’s Healthcare Sector<\/strong><\/p>\n
