Medical<\/a> waste<\/a> management is a critical concern for healthcare facilities worldwide, particularly in developing countries where regulatory frameworks and infrastructure for waste<\/a> disposal<\/a> may be inadequate. In Iraq<\/a>, the healthcare sector generates a significant amount of hazardous waste<\/a>, including infectious, pathological, and pharmaceutical waste<\/a>, which poses significant environmental<\/a> and health<\/a> risks if not managed properly. This study evaluates the environmental<\/a> implications of incineration<\/a> practices for medical<\/a> waste<\/a> at Al Taamem General Hospital<\/a> in Iraq<\/a>, with the aim of identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations for sustainable waste<\/a> management.<\/p>\n

The hospital<\/a> generates a substantial amount of medical<\/a> waste<\/a>, including infectious waste<\/a>, sharps, pharmaceuticals, and other hazardous materials. Incineration<\/a> is the primary method of medical waste disposal<\/a> at the hospital<\/a>, with a dedicated incinerator<\/a> on site.
