Kenya C Siting Requirements for Small Waste Incinerators (Especially Medical Incinerators)
1. **Approved Location Only**
   Medical incinerators should be installed within the premises of a licensed healthcare facility or an officially approved centralized medical waste treatment site. Installation in public or residential areas is not allowed.
2. **Adequate Distance from Sensitive Receptors**
   The incinerator must be located away from wards, schools, residential areas, kitchens, and other sensitive places, preferably positioned downwind from such receptors.
3. **Avoid Environmentally Sensitive Areas**
   Incinerator sites must not be located in flood-prone zones, wetlands, or protected water source areas, and must include proper drainage and groundwater protection measures.
4. **Controlled Access and Security**
   The incinerator area must be fenced, clearly marked with warning signage, and access restricted to authorized personnel only, with a dedicated waste transport path.
5. **Chimney and Air Quality Compliance**
   Chimney height must ensure proper flue gas dispersion, and emissions must comply with the applicable air quality regulations.
6. **No Open Burning**
   Medical waste must be treated only in a licensed incinerator; open burning is strictly prohibited.
