Uganda Embraces Latest Technology: 15 kg/Hr Incinerators from Namibian Manufacturer to Reduce Waste

Kampala, Uganda – As the nation grapples with immense waste management challenges, Uganda is embracing innovative solutions to tackle the problem. Rwandan manufacturer, Green Canopy Limited, has recently signed a deal to supply 15 kg/hr incinerators to Uganda. These advanced machines will not only address waste reduction needs but also generate valuable briquettes as a by-product.

"We are excited to partner with Green Canopy Limited in their efforts to combat the waste crisis in Uganda," said a representative from the Ugandan Ministry of Environment. "These incinerators offer a sustainable and efficient waste management solution that will improve air quality and generate additional energy."

How Incinerators Tackle Waste

The high-capacity incinerators will efficiently burn various waste types, including paper, plastics, and organic materials. The process generates heat energy and converts waste into lightweight ash.

  • The 15 kg/hr capacity allows for the processing of significant waste amounts in urban and peri-urban areas.
  • The advanced technology features air pollution control measures, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Additionally, the incineration process produces valuable briquettes – a renewable energy source formed from the burnt waste.

Benefits of Incineration in Uganda

  • Effective Waste Reduction: Incineration significantly reduces the volume of waste transported to landfills.
  • Air Quality Improvement: Advanced filtration systems minimize air pollution generated during the process.
  • Briquette Production: Generation of renewable energy from briquettes supports energy security and reduces dependence on fossil fuels.
  • Job Creation: The project creates opportunities in waste management and energy generation.

Next Steps

Green Canopy Limited is working in collaboration with the Ugandan government to ensure the successful implementation of the project. This includes:

  • Identifying and equipping designated waste collection centers.
  • Training personnel to operate and maintain the incinerators.
  • Establishing mechanisms for efficient ash management.

FAQs

1. What types of waste can be incinerated?

The incinerators can process paper, plastics, organic materials, and other non-hazardous waste.

2. What are the air pollution control measures?

The machines feature HEPA filters and activated carbon filtration systems to capture harmful gases and pollutants.

3. How much briquette can be generated from 15 kg/hr of waste?

Approximately 3-4 vicissuriquettes per hour can be produced as a by-product.

4 vicissuriquettes can be used to generate energy or as fuel in industries.
